Shredder Security Levels
It’s All in The Paper Size
It makes sense once you think about it; the smaller the shred size, the more secure the shredder. There are six paper security standards ranging from P-2 (the least security) to P-7 (the most security). We carry five leaves: P4, P5, and P7. Review the differences between each to find the paper shredder security level that will work for your business.

P2 Strip-Cut
Material particle surface ≤ 1.25″ squared or strip width ≤ 1/4″. Strip length not determined.

P3 Cross-Cut
Material particle surface ≤ .5″ squared (3/16″ x 3″ particles, for example) or strip width ≤ 3/32″. Strip length not determined.

P4 CROSS-Cut
Material particle surface ≤ .25″ squared, and for regular particles: strip width ≤ 1/4″ (3/16″ x 1 1/2″ particles, for example).
- HIPPA Compliant
- FACTA Compliant

P5 Cross-Cut
Material particle surface ≤ .0468″ squared and for regular particles: strip width ≤ 3/32″ (3/32″ x 5/8″ particles, for example).
- HIPPA Compliant
- FACTA Compliant
- Pii Compliance

P7 Super Micro-Cut
Material particle surface ≤ .0078125″ squared and for regular particles: strip width ≤ 3/64″ (1/32″ x 3/16″ particles, for example).
- HIPPA Compliant
- FACTA Compliant
- Pii Compliance
- COMSEC Compliant
- SCI Compliant
